A Winterreise - or the unexpected encounter of a folk singer and a jazz pianist in the context of Franz Schubert's most moving song cycle.
Noëmi Waysfeld, an artist makes us experience Winterreise like a suite of folk songs. Thus her deep, soulful voice reinvents this tale of love and madness. A music theatre piece inspired by real and imaginary figures on the theme of "The Girl and Death".
A free reverie born from the echoes of Wilhelm Müller's poems with selected excerpts from Elfriede Jelinek's "Winterreise".
Based on Franz Schubert's famous song cycle, the "I" in Elfriede Jelinek's Winterreise wanders through the madness of our present to finally arrive in her own past. The result is one of Jelinek's most personal and touching works ever.
"What Jelinek virtuously demonstrates are the abysses of our speech, the eloquent concealment, the talking away, the skill of keeping the truth at bay by discussing and seemingly reflecting - yes: to evade pain."
